St. Anne Advent Reflection for Dec 22nd

St. Anne Advent Reflection for Dec 22nd

The Gospel of today is very special, and beautiful. It shows us the immense faith of Mary and her cousin Elizabeth.

Readings for today: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/122224.cfm

By Abdel and Belkis Abraham

Mary without any doubt and an infinite love, accepted the blessing to be the mother of Jesus. When she visits her cousin to tell her the news, Elizabeth experiences her infant leap in her womb. Both Mary and Elizabeth share the happiness and joy of knowing that Mary is carrying a very special baby, the son of God.

This passage of the bible reminds me of the joy we felt when learning that we were expecting our own baby.

Mary’s commitment to serve Lord Jesus starts from the very beginning. If we are looking for an example of how to be the best mother, there is Mary. Children are special and to be loved, as Mary love Jesus.

Rejoice, always! Because Mary said “yes”, we have Jesus. And as Jesus says on the cross, in his last moment, Mary is our blessed mother!

Abdel and Belkis serve as sacristans for the 4:30pm Saturday Mass each week.

St. Anne Advent Reflection for Dec 21st

St. Anne Advent Reflection for Dec 21st

Have you ever had one of those days when nothing seems to go right? Perhaps you wonder, “Why is this happening to me?” I know I’ve had those days.

Readings for today: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/122124.cfm

By John Morrisette

Today the Psalmist tells us, “…the plan of the LORD stands forever.” Even though we may not understand God’s plan, we are also told, “Blessed the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he has chosen for his own inheritance.”

As we prepare for the coming of our Savior, perhaps the best thing we can do is to acknowledge that whatever is happening, it’s all part of God’s plan. Shouldn’t we just trust that He knows best?

John has been with St. Anne since 2021. He teaches Math courses at the nearby Slam Academy and lectors at our Masses. You can meet him and his wife Donna Monday evenings at the parish Bible Study.
