Prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel

God of heavenly wisdom, you have given us Mary, Mother of Jesus, to be our guide and counselor. Grant that we may always seek her motherly help in this life and so enjoy her blessed presence in the life to come.

O Mother of Good Counsel, patroness of the National Council of Catholic Women, intercede for us, that we may be wise, courageous and loving leaders of the Church. Help us, dear mother, to know the mind of Jesus, your son. May the Holy Spirit fill us with reverence for God's creation, and compassion for all God's children. May our labors of love on earth enhance the reign of God and may God's gifts of faith and living hope prepare us for the fullness of the world to come.
Amen.

A Message from the NCCW President Boundless Generosity
By Patty Johnson

We see the bountiful generosity of Jesus everywhere in the Gospels. Look at John’s Gospel alone. At Cana, Jesus provides over 20 gallons of good wine. In the miracle of the loaves, 12 basketfuls are left over. When the disciples can’t catch any fish, he miraculously provides not a pail-full, but over 150 fish. And when the woman anointed Jesus at Bethany with costly perfumed oil, he defends her extravagance.

No. Jesus isn’t miserly. Neither is his Father who gave his only Son. Neither is the Holy Spirit who floods God’s life upon us. God doesn’t dole out gifts on the basis of quantity or even the quality of the recipient: “He makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.”

As we develop and introduce new programs for the membership of National Council of Catholic Women, we ask members to share these programs lovingly and use and act on the bountiful resources provided. It has taken many minds, many hands plus generous financial contributions to develop the new Spirituality Monograph, the NCCW Campaign for Human Dignity Manual, the new NCCW membership Power Point and brochure, the quarterly NCCW Bulletin Board, the bimonthly Catholic Woman magazine and the monthly NCCW e-newsletter, NCCW Connect.

The most visible, signature member event NCCW plans each year is the annual convention. This year we have engaged more than 20+ presenters who will speak on a wide range of topics. This convention program reflects NCCW's visibility as an engaged and involved national organization with a re-energized mission. The NCCW staff and the NCCW Board of Directors are each sharing their gifts of the Spirit to build NCCW as a faith-based organization that will serve all of God’s people and offer a pathway to holiness for all Catholic women. We welcome ideas from our membership and we depend on your generous monetary donations to accomplish this work. Please pray for NCCW and follow the example of Jesus as you share your gifts. By actively participating in NCCW events and programs, you will be like one gathered at the family reunion, receiving substantial love and bountiful nourishment.
