The Light is ON for You 2010
Responding to the overwhelming participation in The Light is ON for You last year, Bishop Lynch is pleased to announce that we will again have a diocesan-wide day to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
On Thursday, March 11, 2010, Bishop Lynch has asked that every Catholic Church in the Diocese of St. Petersburg turn on its lights and open its doors for the Sacrament of Reconciliation between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
For more information about receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation, please read the brochure "A Short Guide to the Sacrament of Reconciliation" which has been prepared for this evening.
This evening, there will not be Penance services; priests will simply be availible for you to stop and make an individual confession on your way home from work or school or wherever you may be.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
The Saint Anne Chapel is open from 7am–3pm daily for private prayer.
ADORATION of the BLESSED SACRAMENT is every Wednesday and
each First Friday of the month from 9am-12pm. Please sign up at the
chapel to ensure someone is praying before the Blessed Sacrament, or
join us for as much time as your schedule permits. Many thanks and
may God continue to bless you for all the good you do.

Prayer for Life
O God, our creator, all life is in your hands from conception until death. Help us to cherish each person, and to reverence the awesome privilege of our share in creation. Bless all those who defend the rights of the unborn, the handicapped, the victims of abuse, terrorism and war, the homeless, those on death row and the aged. Enlighten and be merciful to those who fail to love, and give each of us the wisdom and peace that we need so that all may know your holy truth about the sacredness of life. Let freedom be tempered with responsibility, integrity, justice and love. We ask this prayer through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

The members of our parish warmly welcome new parishioners and visitors. As we at Saint Anne Catholic Parish remember the past and move to the future, we pray for the grace to follow Jesus’ example as we reach out to the poor, feed the hungry and create a place of faith and hope for our families.
Third Sunday of Lent
Some people told Jesus about the Galileans
whose blood Pilate had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices.
Jesus said to them in reply,
“Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way
they were greater sinners than all other Galileans?
By no means!
But I tell you, if you do not repent,
you will all perish as they did!
Or those eighteen people who were killed
when the tower at Siloam fell on them—
do you think they were more guilty
than everyone else who lived in Jerusalem?
By no means!
But I tell you, if you do not repent,
you will all perish as they did!”
And he told them this parable:
“There once was a person who had a fig tree planted in his orchard,
and when he came in search of fruit on it but found none,
he said to the gardener,
‘For three years now I have come in search of fruit on this fig tree
but have found none.
So cut it down.
Why should it exhaust the soil?’
He said to him in reply,
‘Sir, leave it for this year also,
and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it;
it may bear fruit in the future.
If not you can cut it down.’”

Fast and Abstinence
Fasting is to be observed on Ash
Wednesday and Good Friday by all
Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59
years (inclusive). On days of fasting, one full
meal is allowed. Two smaller meals, sufficient
to maintain strength, may be taken
according to one’s needs, but together they
should not equal another full meal. Eating
between meals is not permitted, but liquids
are allowed.
Abstinence from meat is to be observed
by all Catholics who are 14 years of
age and older. Ash Wednesday, all the
Fridays of Lent, and Good Friday are days
of abstinence.
Note: If a person is unable to observe the
above regulations due to ill health or other
serious reasons, they are urged to practice
other forms of self denial that are suitable to
their condition.
Working in the Vineyard of the Lord.
Saint Anne is blessed with many hardworking volunteers. We have about 50 ministries in the parish. Why get involved in
the parish? It is a great way to make new friends, be a good steward and be a positive influence to your family and
friends. You will help build a stronger community, learning new skills or putting your talents to work, enriching your life
and answering your baptismal calling. Can you spare an hour or more of your time? Contact Lorna Carter in the parish
office or send your email to lcarter@saintanneruskin.org.
Please visit our Ministry Page to learn what you are called to do.
