The members of our parish warmly welcome new parishioners and visitors. As we at Saint Anne Catholic Parish remember the past and move to the future, we pray for the grace to follow Jesus’ example as we reach out to the poor, feed the hungry and create a place of faith and hope for our families.
Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
While the crowd was pressing in on Jesus and listening
to the word of God,
he was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret.
He saw two boats there alongside the lake;
the fishermen had disembarked and were washing their nets.
Getting into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon,
he asked him to put out a short distance from the shore.
Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat.
After he had finished speaking, he said to Simon,
“Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.”
Simon said in reply,
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing,
but at your command I will lower the nets.”
When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish
and their nets were tearing.
They signaled to their partners in the other boat
to come to help them.
They came and filled both boats
so that the boats were in danger of sinking.
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said,
“Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.”
For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him
and all those with him,
and likewise James and John, the sons of Zebedee,
who were partners of Simon.
Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.”
When they brought their boats to the shore,
they left everything and followed him.
2010 APA
Each year our parish and every parish in our Diocese is
responsible for a portion of the financial obligation it
takes to meet the ministry, programs and services of
our Catholic Church. Together, we are able to reach so
many more in need than our parish could reach alone.
By now you should have received at your home a personal
invitation from Bishop Lynch to participate in the
2010 Annual Pastoral Appeal, “Go in peace to love and serve the Lord”. Please take the time to
look through the brochure at the many ministries of our Diocese, the many people that are served
through this joining of resources and the wonderful generosity that has been shared. We should be
very proud of what we can accomplish together, and I ask you in partnership with Bishop Lynch to
consider a gift/pledge to the Annual Pastoral Appeal, to benefit our parish and more importantly the
many in need throughout the five counties of our diocesan family. Every gift is valuable. Sometimes
it is hard to envision how your one gift could make a difference in an organization the size of our
Diocese, but it does, each Catholic family, each parish, TOGETHER, can fulfill the mission of our
church, to love and serve one another. In trying times our gifts from God may be more difficult to
identify, God blesses each of us every day. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.
Thank you for continuing to support your parish and our diocesan faith community in so many
ways.
Working in the Vineyard of the Lord.
Saint Anne is blessed with many hardworking volunteers. We have about 50 ministries in the parish. Why get involved in
the parish? It is a great way to make new friends, be a good steward and be a positive influence to your family and
friends. You will help build a stronger community, learning new skills or putting your talents to work, enriching your life
and answering your baptismal calling. Can you spare an hour or more of your time? Contact Lorna Carter in the parish
office or send your email to lcarter@saintanneruskin.org.
Please visit our Ministry Page to learn what you are called to do.
